What has meaning is dependent upon the individual and their enjoyment of life. 'Life Has No Meaning' is a reflection upon meaningful life and happiness. Social trends determine that meaningful life and happiness is driven by standards of success. Within this practice achievement is paramount and dreams are disappearing. People are forced to become increasingly functional. Based on the concept of Eudaimonia, this project starts from the Meaningful Life Manifesto, attempts to provide Generation Z with the opportunity to rethink the meaning of life through an innovative set of tarot cards.
The Meaningful Life Manifesto is based on the philosophical concepts of Eudaimonia and the meanings of the cards of the Major Arcana of the Tarot. Eudaimonia suggests that a truly happy person should 'do well' and 'live well'. The Major Arcana describes the growth of a person. Icons representing each meaningful life manifesto have been added as a new visual element to each tarot card. The shape of 'self' is formed in the process of colliding with the world. Both stamps and jewellery can be seen as representations of personal identity. Making jewellery with stamps and sealing wax is a process of 'shaping' an individual's understanding of the meaning of life.
This project has an infinite capacity for reconstruction, reinterpretation, and retelling. Through the personal interpretation of symbols, it provides the user with a tool for self-exploration and expands the human ability to perceive possibilities.
